We theoretically investigate the impact of coherent phonon dynamics on high-order harmonic generation (HHG), as recently measured [Hollinger et al, EPJ Web of Conferences 205, 02025 (2019)]. A method to calculate HHG in solids including phonon excitation is developed for a model solid. Within this model we calculate the signal of specific harmonics. The harmonic yields oscillate at the frequency of the optical phonon mode of the model system when the pump-probe delay increases. Further analysis shows that the phonons are excited by the electron density change induced by the laser field and then influence the band structure and harmonic yields. This work suggests that phonons can be manipulated by controlling electron density using laser fields.
