Despite the benefits of thermal annealing (TA) in the fabrication of polymer solar cells, the high processing temperatures are not compatible with high throughput manufacturing techniques such as roll-to-roll, which commonly used flexible substrates. Therefore, techniques such as flash lamp annealing (FLA), which do not negatively affect the plastic substrate are needed. Herein, the FLA was successfully applied to PEDOT:PSS and SnO2 films used as interfacial layers in PM6:Y6-based solar cells, yielding device performances comparable to or even better than the devices treated with TA on a hotplate. Even at prototype size, the FLA is clearly more energy-efficient than the TA.
