We report on the characterisation of mesoporous polymers as electrode materials in hybrid organic-inorganic lithium-ion batteries. In particular, dendritic pyrene tetraone (D-PTO) and triphenylamine (TPA) is investigated as cathode material and non-planar covalent carbon networks are studied as anode material in lithium half-cells. Cyclic voltammetry as well as galvanostatic cycling measurements were done to investigate on ionic and electric transport mechanisms. For redox active dendritic pyrene tetraone, the mesoporous character of the amorphous polymer is confirmed and the specific surface areas range up to nearly 700 m2g−1. Galvanostatic cycling measurements show a specific capacity of 137 mAhg−1 and a capacity retention of 86% after 50 cycles.
