Functionalizing textiles by spray-coating is in wide-spread use. Here, we focus on functional multi-layer protective coatings on light woven textile materials. The functionalization is achieved by spray-coating with bio-based materials.
We investigate the mechanical stability of these novel coatings and changes in the coating under external stress and standard abrasion conditions. Our aim is to determine the degree of stress that the coating can withstand under different types of mechanical stress until it loses it functionality. The results are important for implementing sustainable materials in textile industry.
