In this work we present the analytical derivation and the numerical verification of an original heat fluctuation relation for a harmonic oscillator evolving at constant temperature from a micro-canonical to a canonical ensemble. We found that the probabilities P(Q) and P(−Q) of gaining or loosing a heat Q, respectively, are related as

 P(Q
 P(−Q
 =  e  −2Q/kBT  ,     (1)

with T the temperature. This result is numerically validated through molecular dynamics simulations with an overdamping Langevin equation algorithm [1]. Our results give insight on the probabilistic behavior of a system undergoing thermalization and contributes to extend fluctuation relations to micro-canonical initial states [2].
