We report on our experiments with quantum gases of polar 23Na39K molecules. We discuss both atom-molecule and molecule-molecule collisions including the origin of loss processes in a cloud of chemically stable molecules. Furthermore, we discuss a method for suppressing molecular loss using a coherent two-photon transition to induce a potential barrier that protects the colliding molecules from reaching the short range.
