Investigation of the low-lying dipole strength of 62Ni via real photon scattering — •Tanja Schüttler1, Florian Kluwig1, Miriam Müscher1, Ronald Schwengner2, and Andreas Zilges1 — 1University of Cologne, Institute for Nuclear Physics, Germany — 2Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, Germany
Since photons transfer only small angular momenta, (γ,γ′) experiments are an established method to investigate the properties of the low-lying dipole strength of atomic nuclei [1]. To improve the understanding of the underlying dipole excitation modes, systematic studies of isotonic and isotopic chains are crucial. The nickel (Z = 28) isotopic chain is well suited for this purpose as it consists of four stable even-even isotopes covering a large range of N/Z ratios. Since 58,60,64Ni have already been measured in (γ,γ′) experiments, the dipole response of 62Ni is one missing link to complete the systematics [2-5]. Thus, a (γ,γ′) experiment using energetically-continuous bremsstrahlung
with a maximal photon energy of Emax = 8.7 MeV was performed at the γELBE facility at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) [6]. First results of this experiment will be presented.
