STIRAP for High Fidelity Spin-Flip in Ultracold 6Li — •Ellen Bräutigam, Carl Heintze, Sandra Brandstetter, Maciej Gałka, and Selim Jochim — Physikalisches Institut, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Im Neuenheimer Feld 226, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany

We report on the implementation of Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) in an ultra-cold few fermion 6Li system. The atoms are transferred with high fidelity between the hyperfine states |3⟩ and |4⟩ in the ground state manifold. The transition is mediated via resonant coupling to an excited state in the D2 manifold while avoiding its population, ensuring negligible scattering and no atom loss. This method achieves robust and fast state transfer on the order of 1µs, providing a reliable tool for precise quantum state control. Among other things, this allows us in combination with Feshbach resonance to perform a sudden interaction quench.
