The electron-phonon coupling strength of gold is crucial for potential plasmon applications such as photocatalysis. Typically, electron-phonon dynamics is discussed within thermodynamic models with a temperature- independent electron-phonon coupling constant. However, several reports suggest a coupling-strength dependence on the lattice temperature. To put the discussions on a solid basis, we performed transient-absorption spectroscopy on gold nanoparticles from cryogenic to high temperatures to assess the carrier cooling time and the underlying electron-phonon coupling constant. We can work out certain temperature effects and calibrate the bleach intensity to temperature, but observe no temperature dependency on electron-phonon coupling constant at this range.
