Spin systems with frustrated geometries are of significant interest due to their potential to exhibit quantum spin liquid behaviour. This study focuses on BiCu2PO6 which exhibits no magnetic ordering down to 0.1 K. Various experimental studies on this zig-zag spin-ladder compound reveal that the magnetism in this material arise from complex exchange coupling mechanisms that are not completely understood yet. However, it is clear that the magneto-structural correlations play a major role. Here, we present our attempt to employ infrared spectroscopy to determine the optical conductivity and phonons along planes parallel and perpendicular to the spin-ladders at temperatures ranging from 300 K to 10 K and look for signatures on the nature of spin-phonon coupling.
